Antifascist theatre

Antifascist theatre

(Anti)Occupations returns theatre to its central role in developing alternative political futures. It establishes an international antifascist theatre network connecting scholars, theatre makers and activists through which blueprints for performances are developed from primary archival research on queer antifascism in the 1970s and revolutionary antifascism in the 1990s. Via public sharings and an international symposium, the project reanimates and activates histories of antifascist theatre. It revives European antifascist scholarship and creative arts practice in this ‘age of resurgent fascism’ that has seen electoral success for the far-right, the return of autocratic leadership and calls for a return to greatness through war, censorship and hatred.
